The English Language and Cultural Programme (ELACP) takes place each summer, July to August. Currently we have camps in three countries: Bulgaria, Turkey and England. The camps are all based in areas of outstanding beauty and cultural significance. You can choose your placement in a camp close to a welcoming beach, or in a dramatic mountain or cool forest resort. Or you may wish to stay at a venue near to the city. One way or another, we feel sure you will have a rewarding experience, gain useful skills and ideas and make lasting friendships.
This is an international summer camp with an English and Drama focus. Combined with this we have an extensive activities programme, which includes sports, hiking, cycling, swimming, boating, arts and crafts. We engage the students in team games, competitions and challenges. A favourite is the orienteering and treasure hunt, where small teams search for clues until they find a 'treasure'.
Another favourite, are the excursions. We have an exhaustive list of excursion combinations. These can be adventure, cultural or activity themed, or most likely a combination of all three. For instance, a full day excursion can include a visit to a sacred site or a palace or museum, then onto a boating trip, through to an adventure park, stopping for lunch at a street cafe, then dinner at a traditional village, taking in a live show, shopping for souvenirs and bus back to camp for a night feast!
There is usually an evening entertainment programme where you can participate in modern and traditional music and dance. Often we have visiting professional performers, who can enthrall with dancing, magic, acrobatics, or seemingly impossible feats.
A big part of the programme is the drama workshop. This activity focuses the whole camp on preparing for the performance, learning their scripts and polishing their acting. Everyone really put their best into it. Integrated into the drama are songs and dance routines to make the performace more interesting for the students and audience (parents and friends). The drama is a very useful tool for confidence building in students who are learning English.
We are looking for interns to join the programme as teachers, classroom assistants, animators and activities leaders, and camp counsellors. This is an ideal opportunity for adventurous and enthusiastic people who are interested in experiencing other cultures and gaining practical experience in teaching, childcare, sport, tourism and entertainment work.
If you already have relevant experience and qualifications we can also offer employment on a full or part time basis at our summer camps. We are especially looking for people, who can both teach English and impart other useful skills. These can include acting, sports, dance, arts and crafts, textiles, woodworking, pottery. gardening. cooking. English is taught in the mornings, and the afternoons are for activities. If you have some interesting ideas, this is the ideal space to put them into practice.
Full induction and teaching materials are provided. We teach children aged 7-17, from beginner to advanced level. We also have a small group for young adults or parents who accompany their children in the family programme.
We provide accommodation and full board in a comfortable hotel and participation in excursions and activities free of charge to all staff. Our centres are based in picturesque and interesting locations. Salary is competitive, depending on your experience and qualifications.
If you wish to apply for a post at the summer camp, please send a covering letter and CV to teach@elacp.com. Interviews will be conducted by Skype, zoom or whatsapp. You can also email us with any questions or suggestions,
Apologies: Please note that due to the volume of applications that we get each year, we may not be able to answer unsuccessful applicants. We aim to notify you of a placement at least 2 months before your expected start date, although at times we may make late appointments nearer to start of camp.
