drama and MUSIC
The English Theatre workshop is one of the highlights of the summer school and camp. Students take part in a drama performance at the end of each week, and family and friends are invited.
In 2013 they performed 'Oliver Twist', the English classic from Charles Dickens, a tale set in Victorian London.They gave a great performance of the iconic Musical ‘The Wizard of Oz’ in 2014. The advanced class prepared an enlightening synopsis of the film. The theme was ‘Courage’. We hosted our first Talent Competition at camp 2014 with interesting and varied renditions in Music, Poetry, Singing, Dancing and Comedy.
In 2015 we performed 'The Lion King', with amazing costumes and music .2016 saw a re-creation of the popular english film, 'Half a Sixpence', a tale of rags to riches, set in Regency times. Again in 2017, we performed an enhanced alterntive version of Oliver!
SUMMER CAMP 2017
The ELACP summer camp 2017 took place 23 July - 19th August. This was our fifth summer camp in Bulgaria, and our third year in Kranevo. This year was bigger than ever, with students from nine different countries. We also welcomed more groups with their teachers and leaders.
Our teaching programme was intensive, as usual. The students showed marked progress from their first day to the last. The drama performances were on point, with quite a few promising actors and actresses. Many students received well deserved certificates and prizes for achievement
We still found time to spend a few hours each day on the lovely sandy beach. We played interesting games and sports, and were entertained with animation and a discotheque each evening. We enjoyed the talent competition, the games tournament and the night walk. We baked some beautiful cakes which everyone enjoyed with their evening cups of hot chocolate.
This year the excursions were longer and multi-faceted. We visited famous Bulgarian heritage sites, such as the Stone Forest, Balchick Palace and botanical gardens and Kaliakra cliffs. We journeyed through Old Mountain to the Solnik traditional village where we were welcomed with music,dancing and feasting. We enjoyed the Bivaka picnic in the forest. We sailed on boats along the quiet and beautiful Kamchia River. We joined in a mock battle with water cannons on pirate ships from the port of Varna, after which we were entertained and fed by the pirates themselves. In contrast, some brave students went ice skating in the new ice arena right on the beach in Kranevo!
On week four we embarked on the Jeep Safari, an exhilarating tour through the forests and nature reserves of Golden Sands, crossing small rivers and eating forest fruits. We were lucky to witness some of the most breathtaking landscapes in Bulgaria and received the best of Bulgarian hospitaiity.
Of course, we will be back again next year for more Fun with English!

SUMMER CAMP 2016
2016. Wow, what a year! Fun, from the first moment to the last, whether it was in the classroom, on the beach or in the forests. Competitions, Camping, Barbeque, Biking, Treasure Trove and Nature Trail, Pirate Ships and more.
SUMMER camp 2015
The ELACP summer camp was in Kranevo, a lovely village on the beach, not too far from Varna. The camp was truly international, with participants from various countries in Europe. We spent the month of July having lots of fun, as usual.
Our main focus was on learning the English Language. There was intense studying in the classroom. Students of all ages concentrated hard on practising reading, writing and speaking English. There was remarkable improvement in the students’ English over the four weeks. The drama classes performed The Lion King and The Sword in the Stone (the legend of King Arthur). The singing was amazing!
There were several excursions, including Balchik Palace and Botanical Gardens, Varna Sea Gardens, Kaliakra Cliffs, Happy Land Theme Park, Albena Water Park, Varna Eco-Park, and more….
There were many new activities, including Still Life Drawing and Fashion Class in English! The long sunny days were also spent visiting the beach, or swimming in the outdoor pool, having ice cream on the beach. The only sad moment was when we all had to leave!
